Around the time I was about thirteen years old, I was chosen to attend a visual arts camp for ten days in June. It was sleep-away camp, and I was pumped. We never had a dog while I was growing up. That is, not until my dad met my step-mom. Her family had a beautiful golden retriever named Skye, “The Dumb Blonde,” my dad affectionately called her.
Then I met my husband-to-be, Graham, and he had a dog named Mazda. Mazda was named after his first true love, I suppose.
