Truth be told, we’re our worst enemy. There’s nobody who picks on you more than you pick on yourself; there’s nobody in this world who constantly points out your mistakes more than yourself. There’s nobody in this world who thinks you’re not good enough more than yourself.
We find the smallest things about ourselves and continuously worry about it. We hate what makes us unique and what makes us “us”. We let the media get the better of us and try to cater to their idea of beauty, even if it kills us.
We say we don’t care but the reality of the matter is, often we do. We promise ourselves that we won’t let the media’s twisted version of beauty won’t get to us, but sometimes they do.
It’s hard to do so but in moments where you’re thinking you’re not good enough, you’re not pretty enough, you’re not smart enough – remind yourself enough is enough! Stop bashing on yourself, because you’re a unique creation in this world. It may not always seem so, but it’s the truth; you’re unique. Yes, you. You are good enough!
And all your imperfections, darling–they’re what make you, you.
Here’s a quote that I read every time I feel lowly about myself: “To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.” ~e.e. cummings
It doesn’t always help, but it reminds me and I hope it reminds you too, to be yourself – not to hate neither who you are, nor your body. To remember that you are indeed good enough.
