Can’t Find the Right Greeting Card? Then Edit!

This isn’t a secret since I had it on my blog, but since Aiming Low has just a few (cough, cough) more readers than I do, I thought, why not share it here, too? This will also give you some ideas the next time you don’t have the exact greeting card to fit the occasion. Come to think of it, maybe this should have been under our Teach Channel.

I’ll have to set up the following image for you…imagine you and your siblings get a huge box of leftover sales rep greeting cards from a family friend. Now imagine you are able to give a card whenever the fancy hits you.

This is what my kids do.

Enter Mother’s Day, circa 2010 and nary a Mother’s Day card to be found in that box.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Because what mom doesn’t want a sympathy card from her kid or for her kid to clearly know that a cocktail should always be infused with motherhood?

My kids are really onto something. I’m sure our own Robin, Artist Extraordinaire, who is exceptionally good at making original cards, could come up with some for you but since we can’t clone her, you may have to improvise…

  • Need an anniversary card? Use a sympathy card!
  • Your best friend’s cat dies? Send an Easter card with a cute bunny on it!
  • A friend newly divorced? Send a Bar Mitzvah card and call it a Bar Hopping card!

See? So easy!

  1. Glad to see that I’m not the only one around with a box of greeting cards from a family friend who is in the card business. And yes, we multi-purpose them as well.
