Maybe it’s because we’re creators, and rumor has it that you have to have something a little off in your psyche to be an artist of any type. And off can come from genetics, chemicals, or life’s crazy twists and turns.
Or maybe it’s just because we’re human, and it seems like there’s no surviving humanity without A Story developing in your wake.
The story always has a climax and a falling action, because that’s just the way a story is. Sometimes that falling action knocks us right on our asses, but sometimes we get up. We get up, we band together with other people who have survived the climax and falling action, and we live to tell another story.
Yes, that’s why Aiming Low is joining The Band this month. Because we appreciate the need to tell a story in a safe place, to have support when you’re getting back up.
The goal of the site is to provide a safe environment for people to tell their stories, whatever that story might be, and to provide resources for people who are dealing with a vast array of different issues. Whether you’re story involves mental health or loss, abuse or illness, Band Back Together offers real, tangible help. Power. Empowerment.
It’s a pretty big deal what they’re doing over there.
So go. Go over there and learn more. Go over there and Band Back Together with the best parts of you and the people who get you.
And if you’re going to BlogHer 11 in San Diego, you can actually party with The Band this weekend. We’ll be doing something special for members. ;-)
