The Plagues of Winter

I swear to GOD I’ve been sick since September.

Honestly, this has been the worst winter for illness I’ve ever experienced. I’ve had some version of a bronchial infection since October, so I’ve been coughing for six fucking months. Seriously.

I’ve had two sinuses infections.

I’ve had three stomach bugs.

I’ve had, I think, 85 colds.

I’ve hacked, coughed, and sneezed up my weight in phlegm. And dudes, I’m seriously fat. That’s a LOT of phlegm.

We’d JUST about gotten past the worst of it when my daughter “had” to switch preschools, introducing a whole new group of germs to our family. In the five short weeks she’s been there she’s brought home two colds and… strep throat.

So I’m on day three of antibiotics for strep. That makes my FIFTH round of antibiotics this winter.

And I don’t have health insurance.

Dudes.

This has to get better, right?

Spring is coming, right?

My kid will stop being the toxic avenger, right?

Lie to me, people. Lie to me.

The good news is, though, my stomach muscles have never been stronger thanks to ALL THE DAMNED COUGHING.

That’s good, right?

Feel better soon, the sun will shine again. :)

As the person who ALWAYS gets one last sinus infection in April, I feel your pain. Except I haven’t had it, yet. Do you think the flu in March negated the need for a sinus infection in April? Or do you think it’s going to double-whammy me with the allergies in May? Sigh.

Last winter I was sick like that and I don’t have kids here in Michigan. I literally coughed from the day that calendar said first day of winter until April when I ended up back at the dr for the kazillionth time. Feel better!!

Me, too. I got slammed with a nasty cold in early December that led to a bunch of crap, including three allergic reactions to medication, two rounds of antibiotics, a brand new skin condition that is hanging in for the long haul (happened after the allergic reactions), lingering weird issues with my eyes (also happened after the allergic reactions) and a sinus infection that I have since then and cannot get rid of.

I don’t live far from you, and yeah, this winter has been a beast. My kids aren’t even in school. Hope you feel better soon. No, wait–you WILL feel better soon. 100% positive.
