HP EZPZ: Invitations for the Frugally Minded

My daughter has a birthday coming up – the big 6.  Gone are the days of me deciding how the party should be, she actually has an opinion now.  A big one.  Almost as big as the attitude she’s getting.  Someone should have warned me that 6 is the new 16.

But that’s a story for another day.

My only stipulation about her party was it must be done offsite.  I don’t want to deal with another shindig with 12 rabid monkey children running through my house and besides, I tend to go a little crazy with the theme so I never end up saving any money.  The whole thing boils down to a huge headache and a big hole in my wallet.

Unfortunately, taking a party to another venue also calls for some cash.  So to lessen the blow for my husband, Mr. Throw All the Kids in a Room with Some Balloons and Lock the Door and They’ll Be FINE, I’m doing what I can to spend as little money on this party as possible while still showing my kid a good time on her big day.  Starting with the invitations.

I was browsing the touch display of my HP Photosmart printer when I found a project for kids birthday invitations.  The capital F to the R-E-E, FREE, printable invitations through Cocodot really jumped out at me because they’re adorable.  And did I mention free?

Super easy, too.  I went with the “Color Stripes” 5×7 invite.

Pick your color, put in the information for the party and add a picture.  Done and done.

The only thing I need now is envelopes (which I have left over from old packages of Christmas cards), card stock to print them on (which is a heckuva lot less inexpensive than having cards made), and scissors to cut out the invites.  And nobody needs to decipher my chicken scratch handwriting.

Not bad for just the proof, eh?  Someone call Charlie Sheen because I’m pretty sure this is WINNING.
