This is what it’s like in my house if I have to print something.
Me: Andy, I’m trying to print something, I just click the cartoon printer, right?
Andy: Yes, the icon, did you check the settings? Is it set to the right printer?
Me: Yes, I mean, I am standing right next to the printer, so I assume it knows I mean this one.
Andy: Yeah, remember I’ve actually told you before, but that is not how computers work.
me: Wait, I think it’s making a noise…
Andy: …
Me: Pysch, someone flushed the toilet. Ugh, this is hard.
Andy: Ok, I’m at work, I can’t possibly walk you through this potential mental breakdown, so see if Jude is up from his nap and get him to print it for you.
Jude is four. Not only does he troubleshoot, but he also changes the ink and counts to 25.
My kids, Gigi included, know the HP webprinter apps better than anyone else in our house. They print coloring pages, paper dolls, and craft projects. And, occasionally, driving directions to their favorite sushi restaurant.
But, that’s only when they are showing off.
Today we got to test drive HP’s latest app, Disney’s Mickey & Friends Mashup Masterpiece. It’s a super special app that you can get access to when you purchase select HP papers and get the ultra secret code.
You put in the code, and the kids get access to create their own Disney masterpieces, with all their favorite characters and backgrounds and about gazillion (HP technical term) other tools.
There’s lots of clicking. And squealing. And fighting over who’s touching who.
But, aside from that, it’s insanely easy, and it literally kept them busy for almost an hour.
I won’t tell you what I did with that hour of silence, suffice it to say, my eyes were closed and Bill the vampire was there.
It was a thoroughly delightful treat to find in my HP Advanced Photopaper, and it can also be found in the HP Everyday Photo papers, and HP Multipurpose papers.
Don’t take my word for it, let’s let Jude and Wyatt walk you through the process.
1. Open your select HP printer paper, find the code, enter it at www.hp.com/go/printmagic.
2. Start the Mickey Mashup Process.
3. When you are done Mashing the heck out of things, hit print.
4. Be the proudest kid ever.
5. Do it all over again until all your ink is gone, and you totally forget until it’s time for you to print out your boarding pass as you run out the door to catch the flight you are already late for. But still, so totally worth the fun!

While HP did provide me with access to their Disney Mash Up App, all the opinions in this post are mine, and that of my children, who were in no way bribed to say wonderful things about HP, but were, in fact, bribed to put pants on.

My kids can use a TV remote better than my mother-in-law.
Though that’s not saying much.

“Funhundred” – Totally cute.
Running out of ink = no boarding pass, priceless.

I can’t wait until my kids become computer “experts” so my family stops calling ME with things like “The button-thingy I used to click to do SOMEthing went away. Where is it?” or “I was sending an email over the internet and my computer went black. What do I do?”
I’m so ready to hand the phone over… let me get my manager.

“see if Jude is up from his nap and get him to print it for you” Awesome.

Yeah, it’s pathetic, right?
I would blame the fact that the printer is crazy easy, but he does the same thing with my blackberry.
