Cats need to eat, too.

brittanyavOf all the things I have received from blogging, the friends have to be my favorite part.

No wait, the money.

Gah, no….friends, let’s go with friends.

Thanks to Aiming Low, I have best friends in Georgia, Missouri, California, Florida, Texas, Utah and Toronto.

Meeting up with them is never a dull time, and it is with jet lag and a hangover that I tell you about our latest adventure.

I love LA.

I love the weather, I love the food, and not even all those skinny people in their tiny, tiny workout gear derailed me on my way to go get pancakes on the beach.

I met up with some of my best friends in the world, Jen, Allison, Heather, Meghan, Shauna, and our new…really skinny and way too pretty for words…friend, Kelli.

We gorged ourselves on mexican food and margaritas, we shopped at Target (um, LA Target is totally different than Ohio Target, for the record.), we gossiped on the couch, and took lots of pictures.

boobsLike this one.  This is Sanchez.  The Sanch (follow him on the twitters @thesanch09).  Sanch belongs to Allison, who was kind enough to let us crash at her house all weekend.  Allison was concerned, as I have a bit of a track record of hating cats, but I knew we would hit it off.  I mean, I was a touch worried at first, but then something happened that made us put our differences aside.  See, traveling without your baby when you are breastfeeding, while super fun, is also super hard.  You get all engorged and leaky, and your boobs look scary and veiny, and you have to rely on a pump for relief.  Not fun.  Especially since I bought myself some cheapo manual pump so I wouldn’t have to try and carry on my electric pump, because I am certain the TSA would think it’s a bomb, and then I would have to explain that it goes on my nipples, and it would just be a mess.

So, when the time came to try and get this manual pump going, it was a nightmare, my hands were crampy and exhausted after about five minutes.  Enter, the Sanch.  I won’t go into details, let’s just say, that cat has a love of breast milk that knows no bounds.  We were pretty much best friends after that.  I’d like to think it’s because we bonded over a traumatic event, but I m pretty sure he only liked me because I smelled like an all you can eat buffet.teamAnissa

Oh, or this one.  See, one of the many reasons we all convened in LA is in honor of our girl, Anissa.  Anissa was chosen to perform a piece of her work in the stage show, Expressing Motherhood.  She was so proud and absolutely ecstatic to have been selected, so you can imagine how upset we all were that she wouldn’t be able to attend.  So, we rallied the troops, put on our Sunday best*, and as many of us that could headed out to LA to represent.  The show was amazing, and I would be lying if I didn’t admit that we were a blubbering mess the whole time.  We have never been prouder though, and I would like to think she is happy we all went to support her.  We would walk across fire for ya, Anissa, we love you baby!  Hurry home to us!

potMmmmmm…..pot.

Wait.  Where was I?

Oh yeah, the other things we did in LA.

So, the other super important thing we did in LA was gather with friends to celebrate the coming birth of Binky.  Heather’s shower was amazing, Meghan did an AMAZING jobshower planning it!  The food was to die for and the punch, which I later learned was spiked (which explains the slurring and drunk texts to Shauna), was also yummy.

You know those pregnant people who just look stunning no matter how pregnant they are, and you hate their guts because when you were that pregnant, you looked disgsting with upper lip sweat and you smelled like crotch?  Sigh….that’s our Heather.  She was gorgeous.  GORGEOUS!  SEE!?  OMG…I look like an amazon.  Like I could LITERALLY eat Heather.

We are so excited for Heather and Mike to meet their new baby girl very, very soon!

Ok, let’s see what else we have here…hmmm…

asshole-collageOh look!  Here is Jen, Shauna and Allison being assholes and making fun of my twitter avatar (ahem, @barefootfoodie).

Did I mention they put alcohol in the punch but DIDN’T TELL ANYONE!?

WHO DOES THAT!?

I mean, it was good, but Christ, I had Spanx on, I need warning if I have to try and go to the bathroom through the tiny Spanx pee hole thing.  Pee went everywhere.  beach

EVERYWHERE!

Sorry Heather’s mom.

Moving on, the beach!  Look!  The beach!  So pretty!

Thanks to our California friends for hosting us there, we can’t wait to come back, and extra special love to you, Sanch.  I’ll think of you everytime I pour milk on my cereal.
