A letter from the Editors.

First.

Before anything else.

Thank you.

THANK YOU.

It isn’t a post we ever wanted to write.  It isn’t a post we know how to write.   No words seem strong enough.

The support, the love, then generosity you have shown our dear friend, our sister, YOUR sister, Anissa, and her family, has been amazing.

Laughing and crying with you, and the amazing posts you have written in her honor, have gotten us through long nights of sadness, worry, and loneliness.  If you haven’t had a chance to go through them, we urge you to.

Every inch of this site has been touched by Anissa.  Every piece of text is a piece of her heart.

This site is her dream, it’s part of her soul.

We would be lying if we told you we knew exactly what to do next.  We feel the eyes on us.

How can we be present and laughing here, when our hearts are far away in a Georgia hospital?

Because we have to.

For Anissa.

To honor her and her tireless labor creating this site.

So, we will.

Slow at first, but making our way, and we hope you all stick around for the ride.

Because in the midst of all this uncertainty right now, one thing we know for sure.

When Anissa wakes up, and this site has gone to pot?

She will kick all our asses.

You women are amazing and you rock and I love you and whatever you need and whenever you need it I’m there. I’m so so sorry your lives have been… this… for the last several days. I pray for Anissa about every ten minutes and will continue to do so.

Thank you all for keeping Aiming Low going (even if it IS because you’re afraid of Anissa… *wink*). Much love to you ALL. <3

carry on sisters! I’m behind you 100%! #prayersforanissa

  9. Y’all are awesome and keep on keeping on. Tons of prayers for Anissa and she’ll be glad to see this is still going when she wakes up.

  10. Sarcastica says:

Hear hear! She really WOULDN’T enjoy coming back to sadness and worry from what I’ve heard of her (and it’s clear in how she writes lol).

  11. Damn straight girls. Keep on posting, we love you ladies!

I find myself thinking of Anissa and the Aiming Low team constantly. This is terrifying and unbelievable and shocking and so very very awful. I must say that the response from the blogging and blog-reading community has been unbelievable. The love and concern for Anissa and her family are palpable. As is the immense sadness. I feel privileged to be “virtually” surrounded by such strength and such intelligent humor. And both of those things seem to so aptly describe Anissa.

  13. Hockeymandad says:

Got that right, I think you’ll need to step it up a notch for her. Or maybe, in keeping with the theme, step it down a notch!

  14. Solon says:

Can’t wait to hear what Anissa has to say about all this. Anxiously awaiting her first post.

  15. danish says:

I have been following this terrible story since yesterday. I am a fairly new reader of barefoot foodie and found my way here from there. I never read Anissa’s blogs but I had definitely heard her name mentioned throughout the blogosphere.

If Anissa is in the hospital I think she is in, she is literally half a mile from my office. I am sending all my good wishes to her and her family, including all her friends. She and her family are soooooo lucky to have such support and love from so many people.

  16. mel says:

plus Ralphe Macchio has her back now, so that would definately be some serious ass kicking.

Yes, she will… which brings a smile to my face.

    Hang in there you guys.

My prayers are all going hard that direction.

  18. I’ll be here! Take your time getting back into the writing, of course…. You’re so worth the wait. HUGS!

  19. AMomTwoBoys says:

I’m worried she’s going to kick our asses for taking the week off.

Love you girls with all my heart. I really don’t know where I’d be without you.

When she wakes up I think she’s gonna find a reason to kick all our asses regardless.

    Love you girls.

    A lot.

    Love.

  22. I can tell, you are great friends to have and you love Anissa very much. I don’t know Anissa nearly as well as you guys but I do know that she loves to laugh, joke, and have fun. I also know that if you just sat around being upset over what’s happening…she’d kick your ass. Just because you write an article that makes someone laugh does not mean you aren’t thinking of her but rather doing what she would want you to do.

I look forward to your future posts!

    @Rachel Ferrucci

  23. I do NOT want Mad Anissa coming after me.

We will move through this the best way we know how – through Anissa’s dream of making everyone laugh.

Praying for Anissa and all of her friends, real world and virtual.

  26. Sandy says:

I am praying everything gets better. She will wake up and be happy to see someone is keeping it going. I will check back regularly.

  27. I think we all can agree that laughter is the best medicine; and I don’t know about all of you, but I could use a double shot of laughter right now to keep my spirits up. Anissa and her sweet family are never far from my thoughts; thank you for keeping us all in the loop and updated. It really feels like we’re one big Aiming Low family; I only wish that we could’ve reached this unity under happier circumstances. GET WELL SOON, ANISSA!!!

So glad you ladies are keeping this site going. Sometimes we need to be reminded that in the midst of tragedy it’s OK to smile once in a while.

  31. Krissa says:

Shiiiiiiiit! We can’t let that happen! I’m a new reader at least! That’s something that happened on your watch. ;-)

  32. Nancy says:

Yes, the show must go on. Anissa wants it that way. She also wants Ralph Macchio on her kitchen table, but this is something we can actually give her.

If you need posts, let me know. I have a gig wrapping up in the next week and I might be able to help you out for awhile.

Take care y’all and take care of each other.

I think (because we can never really know, can we?) that if I was in her position, I would want you to keep on laughing. Yes, reserve a piece of yourselves for the worry and for the prayers, but don’t let everything around you stop.

We are all hoping and praying for Anissa, and we all understand that the show must go on.

  35. Not to mention KICK US IN OUR NECKS!

I think you all know how I feel about my sisters.

….I check the Aiming Low website from time to time because after meeting you gals in Boston, I was enthralled and then exited when I actually won the HP Notebook. Meeting Anissa, I loved her energy and enthusiasim and kindness, a NON blogger btw, her sarcasm.everthing about her. Imagine my surprize and dismay upon “checking in” today. Anissa, you are a true kind human being and my prayers are with you, your family, and the gals at AimingLow. I will be checking in everyday now…….
You gals are very smart to keep aininglow up and running…I bet she’ll be back and will read all of this and laugh her Ass off……..

Bring your “A” game and keep on rolling. Reading this site brought a real smile and genuine laughter to many a crap day unfolding in my world. Soon enough, Anissa will be back to open a can of whoop ass- but until then, keep on keeping on. Can’t wait for her triumphant return.

  49. Scary Mommy says:

She is so blessed to have friends like you!

  50. Fiona says:

Get to it – she’s one strong gal and she’ll be back before you know it!

  51. Kadi says:

I’d kick your asses too if you let this place go to crap. LOL. But you are doing a great job just continuing on and I applaud you for that. I was aiming low in honor of Anissa today and did a whole post on Twilight Parenting, complete w/ examples and I even argued my points to my own grandma. That should put some piss in a few righteous ass sniffer’s Cheerios!

  52. Petra Wise blogged about the plight of Anissa and her family. I hope her husband will get in touch with the United Way. In many locations, it’s just a simple matter of dialing 211 on the phone. Or navigate to http://www.liveunited.org/ and enter the zip code. The folks there can determine the needs of Anissa and her family and provide help.

I hope everything turns out fine. Blessings.

  53. LaciR says:

I heard about Anissa on The Kitchen Witch blog. I will keep a candle lit for Anissa tomorrow during the day. I am sending my thoughts and positive energy her way, to her family’s way. I will be praying she gets well soon! She is an inspiration!

  54. mumby says:

You are absolutely right. She would kick your asses! Keep up the great work. She will be proud and happy to see you’ve kept it up. You guys are strong. I think about Anissa and her family constantly these days. Can’t help but think it could be any of us. Strength & kudos to you guys also! This is not aiming low – this is rising to the top.

  55. I have never been to your site before but I discovered it at Yahoo’s Shine when I read about Anissa’s recent stroke. I am so sorry to hear about this. I wish her, her family and her friends strength and hope to make it through this ordeal.

  56. Sophia's Mom says:

You guys are so right! She is gonna be PISSED!
    You better get to work!!!
