Big White Woman

threedayweekend2I am what you would call a big girl.

As far back as I can remember, I have been what you would call a big girl. Somewhere between first and third grade, I went from “tiny cute ballerina girl” to “big ass white woman” – and I’ve been that way ever since.

In all honesty, it’s never bothered me being the big gal of the crowd. My Mom is a big woman. My Mamaw is a big woman. My Mom’s Sister is a big woman – well, she was until she lost all that weight and became a lesser-sized woman, but I still love her because I remember when she was said big woman and was still very much awesome.

I’ve never really been a jealous person – skinny just isn’t my thang. And that doesn’t bother me in the least bit – because as long as I’m not worried about being Skinny Minnie, then I can have that double cheeseburger with extra sauce AND French fries, yes please!

I like to eat. To quote Forrest Gump, “I like it a lot”. If carrying around those ten extra pounds in my mid-section means I can have a piece of cheesecake with my dinner, then so be it. If my legs wiggle a little when I’m walking down the street, I don’t mind – that just means that yes,  I did eat more than a protein bar for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner (seriously Skinny Minnie, how do you do it?)!

And I recently heard/read/imagined somewhere that having a little fat on your body helps to make you look more youthful as you age. If you’ve got a little fat stored on your face, you won’t look shriveled and hollowed out as the years roll by and your face begins to cave in on itself.

Score! Double-plus bonus for the fat chicks!

So, yes, I will take some extra whipped cream on my caramel frappacino. And yes, I’ll have some more steak and fries, my friends. Because if it means I can stand next to Skinny Minnie someday and be the better looking person in just one single category, I am definitely staying the big white woman that I am.

AMEN!  Thank you, Mary, for this Three Day Weekend post, I know here at Aiming Low, we ALWAYS get seconds!  Mary can be found at her blog, Mommaruth(says).

So really, you’re thinking way ahead! I remember reading that, too. (Did you see Ellen yesterday? The real-life-sized models from Glamor magazine were on. They were considered plus-sized because they’re size SIX and above. Ridiculous industry standard!)

    Hon, I always joke that I don’t have a beer belly, I have a beer butt…

Never been big in the middle, but my friend’s describe me as “the white woman with a black woman’s ass”…Yes, I’m JLo on steroids. But you know what? We will live longer. Yes!! Scientifically proven that women with big asses have a longer lifespan. One more thing we’re better at.

Plus, ain’t nothing wrong with a great set of breedin’ hips, as my daddy always said…

  8. I have this weird thing going on where I’m, as you say, “a big woman”, but I think I’m supermodel thin. Very strange is Mishi!

  9. Woo Hoo! Yes, curves are good and healthy, too.
I saw this thicker thighs thing meaning lower heart disease and I think even lower breast cancer risk, I think.

Of course.. in my mind I’m a size 8. In the mirror….. :-)

Recently, my mother’s doctor told her the same thing. He also said that it is better to have a little extra weight as you age because many older people get thin and frail. His theory is that if you get sick/injured you won’t waste away to nothing as so many do.

So I’m thinking that if I get widowed or divorced, when I’m old I can have my pick of the men. What with my youthful face and general look of well-being.

    Plus I like to eat.
