How To Fake Great Sauce

photobooth-hairHave you ever been to a restaurant or BBQ and the sauce has been nothing short of Tonguegasmic?  You ask for the recipe and they either give you that knowing look or proceed to rattle off 900 ingredients and at ingredient #4 you tune out and start picturing the ice breaking off the side of the bottle of beer as you pull it out of the ice chest, or the green gleam of the mint leaf in your fresh mojito?

I’m going to tell you a secret.. yes, you can spend 45 minutes making bbq sauce out of tomatoes, vinegar, brown sugar and spices… or, you can cheat.

Buy a thing of Kraft regular BBQ sauce.

Dump about 2 C into a microwaveable bowl or a pan for your stove

Add about 1 to 3 TBSP Frank’s Buffalo wing sauce (your awesome tongue heatometer will dictate your ability to handle this)

a dash of brown sugar

and then  a handful to 1/4 C of Rachel’s Simple Seasoning (this is at your tastebud’s discretion)

or, if you don’t have that particular blend on hand (It’s easy.. make it, now)  grab some garlic powder, pepper, salt, red pepper and cinnamon and toss in a dash or two of each or use your favorite Seasoning mix.

Heat over low heat or nuke for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve over meat, next to meat, as a dipping sauce or drizzled over your featured meat.

Then, sit back and give all your friends that  knowing look or, be nice and tell them where you got this cheater’s recipe for awesome Q’ng sauce.

I’m totally going to do this. BBQ sauce is the one condiment I always have plenty of and don’t want to use.

I’ve always tired to doctor up BBQ sauce and every once in awhile I can make it turn out really well but then never duplicate it again! I’ll have to give this a try.
